 Description:

One of the most elegant hybrid pieces in our catalog. From the tones of greens, blues and tans, to the way the texture of the weaving changes in the stripe pattern, this textile combines the techniques of Ikat weaving and Batik. The Batik patterns were created both by hand drawing with hot wax directly on the cloth (Batik "tulis") and by using hand stamps dipped in wax (Batik "cap").

This is known as a skirt cloth or "kain panjang" in Indonesian. It is wrapped around the waist, usually held in place by a belt or sash. Kain panjang is often reserved for formal occasions, especially in Java, while sarong may be worn as everyday wear for men and women.
